Seth Kaplowitz is a leading legal and strategic advisor based in New York City, specializing in work with architecture and design entrepreneurs and creative businesses worldwide. Seth is the founding partner of Kaplowitz Group, a legal advisory firm designed specifically for the unique needs of entrepreneurs and creatives. Uniting his extensive experience in private equity with a passion for design, over the past decade Seth has honed his expertise to provide practical advice for the creative sphere and built a practice and community invested in creativity and business growth.
Prior to founding Kaplowitz Group, Seth was the legal and operational director of an international private equity firm based in South Africa. His substantial background in private equity informs the way he advises his clients, and is the foundation for his belief that creating and maintaining optionality is a creative professional’s most important asset. Prior to private equity, Seth worked in private legal practice in the United States in corporate law and litigation.
Seth also provides pro-bono legal counsel for a number of non-profit organizations, including the Saint Joseph’s Arts Foundation (where he is also a member of the Board of Directors), the Provincetown Public Arts Foundation, Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts NY, Good Eats, and the Provincetown Arts Society. He is a native of Massachusetts, and currently lives in New York City and Provincetown MA, with his wife, two children, and dog.
Seth is a member of the New York Bar Association and holds a JD from Syracuse University College of Law, where he was an associate editor of The Syracuse Law Review. Seth has an undergraduate degree in political communication and rhetorical theory from Emerson College.
